Amsterdam's Sloterdijk district is on the eve of large-scale urban renewal. PUC is working on the preliminary design and programme of a temporary park on the south side of the area.
On a strip of exactly one kilometre along the railway line where a park is planned in the future, we will add a number of temporary accommodation elements that will increase the possibilities of use and quality of stay of the public space. The interventions that are successful in the temporary phase can grow towards the final design of the park. In this way, the park will grow organically towards its final form in the coming years.

A Diverse Programme
The temporary park design includes a tree campsite with trees that have to temporarily make way elsewhere in Amsterdam, a path structure, a sports and exercise programme with sports container and fitness elements, a stand for cultural programming in the park, flexible seating elements, and a new running route, the 1K of Amsterdam. The design was made together with Studio Yaa, the public space design department of the City of Amsterdam and local stakeholders and users. In 2023, we will work on implementing the temporary design and activation of the area.
