This Bright Yellow Food Truck Helps Local Chefs Kickstart Their Business
De Grote Wisseltruck is a food truck that changes owner every six months, enabling aspiring food entrepreneurs to easily test their business idea.
By occupying temporary and vacant spaces, cities and entrepreneurs find opportunities to test new ideas or give a platform to new initiatives. In the melting pot that is Amsterdam the ideas for temporary and flexible use have been taken to the next level. Meet ‘De Grote Wisseltruck’. This kitchen on wheels provides an opportunity for talented, local cooks and entrepreneurs to test their food concept in the neighborhood.
De Grote Wisseltruck is a local, Amsterdam initiative founded by Mama Louise and HOBU. The goal is to kickstart local entrepreneurship in several areas in the city. With support from business and marketing professionals, local entrepreneurs and cooks get the opportunity to test their food concept at a very low risk. After half a year it’s time for a new entrepreneur — whether the business turned out to be successful or not. The ambition of the project is to help find a permanent location for successful concepts.
The first location where this special food truck will camp out, is Southeast Amsterdam. An area in need of revitalization and positive impulses. The district has issues concerning health and unemployment. Stimulating a healthy lifestyle is not only done by focusing on individual issues, but also by increasing the supply of healthy food options. By promoting healthy food and stimulating local entrepreneurship, De Grote Wisseltruck aims to tackle these issues with local, healthy food that is accessible for everyone, connects people within the neighborhood, and boosts the local economy.
