Shopping Center Offers Life In The Fast (Or Slow) Lane
For anyone who knows the frustration of getting stuck walking behind leisurely strollers or being jostled by speed demons in a rush, the Meadowhall center in Sheffield, UK has implemented a simple but clever solution.
In an effort to ease pedestrian traffic during peak shopping hours, Meadowhall has installed side-by-side walkways marked ‘Slow Lane’ and ‘Fast Lane’ so both window shoppers and customers in a rush can both move at their desired pace. The idea began with a ten-year-old customer who complained of the issue and offered up a solution, which is currently in trial phases at Meadowhall. The separated lanes will hopefully keep fast and slow walkers from driving each other crazy.
