A Second Urban Layer

It must be incredible to wake up each day with the view of an endless grey roof landscape, and be a part of an uncontrolled second urban layer that has so much potention. The lady in the picture above is the owner of this house in the neighbourhood of San Telmo in Buenos Aires. The only way to enlarge her small house was to add a prefabricated container to the rooftop. This solution came from the architects Francisco Fenili, Jorge Perez Gonzalez and Julio David Sepiurka from FPS Architecture Studio. They made the roof accessible by stairs and a platform, and had to deal with some more special demands like a minimum use of energy and material waste. The owner, textile designer Rosa Skific, has both her home and studio in there.
