Selfridges Opens Drive-Thru For Online Purchases

We mainly know drive-thrus from fast food restaurants, but in London shoppers can now pick up their purchases while sitting in their car as department store Selfridges offers the first drive-thru service for luxury products. Through the store’s the so-called Click & Collect service, customers can buy the items of their choice online and select a day to pick them up.

Selfridges has launched the service to help customers getting control over the moment to receive online purchases. Currently most online ordered goods are delivered at home. This seems to be a better service compared to picking it up, but in fact the delivery process is not very customer-friendly. Don’t we all hate to stay home waiting for the delivery man to drop off that one important package? Over the last years lots of concepts have been invented to overcome this annoyance. Nevertheless, most people don’t have access to the future mailbox yet. This service offered by Selfridges brings customers back in control.

To start the service right in advance of the busiest shopping period of the year, Selfridges had to convert some of their forecourt space around the side of their London location. But now that’s done, Christmas shopping is way more comfortable for all those that want to avoid the busy shopping hubs. The only thing to hope for them is that they won’t get stuck in a drive-thru traffic jam.
