This camper bike is a project by artist Kevin Cyr. It’s a functioning sculptural piece, built in April 2008. Kevin describes his one man camper as a stand alone piece and the subject of a series of paintings. He gets his inspiration from the real world, and the way infrastructure and mobilty gets involved in our city’s landscapes and culture. His website is anyhow worth visiting. The artist is noticeably fascinated by all kinds of sloppy city vans and other (business) vehicles, and this camper project obviously derived from his interest. He achieved to capture moveable aspects in the urban realm in a very attractive way.
“In a culture in which people are easily lured by the appeal of status-enhancing symbols, I find beauty in derelict cars and unkempt landscapes. I have always been interested in painting vehicles and scenes that have defined the evolution of the American landscape.”
