Market Hall Rotterdam
Rotterdam is boosting its pre-war downtown Laurenskwartier district by planning a brand new iconic market hall. Architecture office MVRDV came up with a spectacular design for a semi open air market with a roof. The building includes 246 residences, that form an arc that covers the open market area. The interior will be entirely covered with LEDs for an ever changing atmosphere. The front and backside are covered with a flexible suspended glass facade.

The market hall is expected to be completed in 2014. Since Rotterdam already has experience in building modern landmark structures such as the Erasmus Bridge, this could be the next big thing…
