Urban Changemakers, LSE Is Calling You
A rapidly changing world requires new ways of making and managing cities. LSE Cities is offering a new program for city-makers in the public, private and civic sectors who want to improve the way their organizations understand and deliver urban change.
Urban development is transforming and shifting towards a situation unlike any other. Increasingly, we like to take matters into our own hands when it comes to creating urban change. Additionally, we see distinctive influencers and new players in the field of urban development. New situations ask for a new approach and understanding of the urban, and with that a different ‘breed’ of experts. This is where the LSE program comes in.
LSE’s tailor-made Executive MSc in Cities program mixes the latest research on global urban disruptions like urban inequalities, technological revolutions and climate change with the necessary leadership skills helping to strategize, engage and deliver change. Through innovative teaching, such as real organizational challenges, reverse classroom teaching, coaching and consultancy within the participants’ organisation, the programme gives value by connecting to a lifetime peer network of urban leaders and disruptors.
With 18 months of parttime education, consisting of five weeks of intense teaching sessions and six months of personalized consultancy with an organization of choice, the Executive MSc in Cities is an intensive, yet valuable and diverse program. Led by a core of influential professors and various highly-touted visiting lecturers, and courses such as Governing Cities in an Urban Age and Cities and Society: Design and Social Cohesion, the program offers unique experiences and insights with regard to issues of urban governance, transport, economics and design.
Urban Age Scholarship
Thanks to the Urban Age Programme, a joint initiative between LSE Cities and the Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft, a special Urban Age Scholarship is available. The scholarship is designed to financially support candidates who want to take part in the Executive MSc in Cities program who can’t afford all their study costs.
The Executive MSc in Cities is planned to start in September 2016. Please check out the website for more information.
