This is Giraffe, a “portable space divider” designed by Kawamura Ganjavian, an architecture and design studio based in Madrid.
Their product does not just look good, it also forms both a critical and a constructive response to the flexible and open office revolution. Its designers, Key Portilla-Kawamura and Ali Ganjavian, state that current popular open plan principles in offices jeopardize individual space and dilute group dynamics. They explain that Giraffe “creates a visual enclosure for those who are sitting behind it but does not interfere in the general openness of a room. It is also a pin board and a hub for wired connections (Ethernet, electrical). The perfect office companion”.
