Forest in a Football Stadium
Artist Klaus Littmann has planted a spectacular temporary forest inside the Wörthersee football stadium in Klagenfurt, Austria.
Working together with Swiss landscape architect Enzo Enea, the forest covers the entire football pitch and consists of 300 trees that are characteristic of Central Europe. Depending on the time of day, the trees will constitute a constantly changing landscape that is shaped by the weather as well as the autumnal turning of the leaves. From the grandstands, visitors can take a look at the forest every day between 8th September and 27th October from 10am until 10pm. Admission is free.
With the temporary forest, Basel-based artist Littmann wants us to investigate the future relation between nature and humankind. “One day, we might have to admire the remnants of nature in specially assigned spaces, as is already the case with zoo animals.”
