App-Driven Laundromat Serves Busy Urbanites
Doing your laundry sucks. Not only does it feel like a huge drain on time, it can be genuinely difficult to factor it in the average, chaotic, urban schedule. This is when the people behind Bubble & Stitch come in with their newest store on Overtoom in West Amsterdam, to provide you with a hassle-free service, 24 hours a day.
The store itself is very minimal, comprised of mint green locker walls. Bubble & Stitch’s vision is one of simplicity: place your laundry into one of the lockers and using their free app, you will then order precisely which service it is you require. Once completed (should take no more than two business days) they will send you a notification that your laundry is fresh and ready for you to pick up. If you are the insanely busy office worker, they offer to post your parcel to your office. And if, like most people, you have zero knowledge of clothing repairs, these beautiful people will take care of most wear and tear issues. Chores just got a whole lot simpler.
The soothing colours present in-store extend to one’s environmental conscience: they use a steaming process which causes minimal damage to the earth (and clothing fibres!). Any tricky stains will be treated with professional, environmentally safe products, which is great as laundry-doing is one of the most environmentally-unfriendly processes taking place inside our homes. The store in Overtoom was designed and branded by the creative duo Cristina Zanon and Naomi Thellier de Poncheville from Buro Nana, whose other branding/design enterprises are well worth checking out.
