Bibliotren Transforms Trains Into Virtual Libraries

Travelers of the Catalan Government Railways (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya) will have plenty to read over the coming months as the trains are turned into virtual libraries where 40 books are displayed on posters. After scanning a book’s QR code, travelers are enabled to read the first chapter of every book.

The selections of books include works by authors like Chuck Palahniuk, Walter Isaacson, John Le Carré, David Grossman, Blanca Busquets and Julia Navarro. The campaign is part of the National Reading Plan aiming to improve literacy. At the same time the Bibliotren is a genius advertisement for the publisher Random House Mondadori, which offers full e-book versions of the novels that are presented on the train.
