The Tree Tent Hotel
Rotterdam-based tent architect Dré Wapenaar has created an amazing decentralized hotel that combines tree houses with tents. Part of the Pit landscape art festival in Belgium, Wapenaar’s so-called ‘Tranendreef’ consists of four teardrop-shaped sculptures that are hanging from standard trees and provide an alternative form of accommodation to spend a night in the town of Haspengouw.
Around the tents you’ll find modular field furniture by designer Ardie van Bommel, which we showcased in our Dutch Design Week 2011 series. The hotel is located in an idyllic landscape, near the castle of Hex, and will be opened until 30 September. Spending the night in a tent will cost you some 70 euros. Be sure to check out the rest of the festival program, you’ll like it.
