Although prostitution is legal in Germany, prostitutes in general don’t pay taxes because a lot of them don’t speak the language and because their service is not suitable for strict administration. That’s why the German government has installed these pretty innovative ‘sex meters’ in the streets of Bonn, as reported by CNN. Every night sex workers must purchase a €6 ticket, presentable for inspection by the police. This system should help sex workers to pay their fair share of taxes. The machine is expected to collect around €200,000 a year from approximately 30 sex workers in Bonn, which is a good revenue when taking the costs of only €12,000 in consideration.
