A Box Full of Local Creativity

Southeast Amsterdam is home to a vibrant community of makers who create the most beautiful, authentic and tasty products. Most of them are experiencing hard times due to the coronavirus outbreak. In order to make them meet their ends, we’ve developed the Bijlmerbox — a box full of locally-made products that let you enjoy the scents, tastes and stories of this unique district of Amsterdam.

100% Bijlmer-Made

The Bijlmerbox contains honey from urban beekeeper BijGein, beer brewed by Kleiburg, a cocktail from rum brand Rummieclub, Riszky’s Sambal created by The New Originals (TNO), Mick la Rock‘s Space Babies Notebook, Madam Jeanette peanut butter from ZaZa Kitchen, and much more.

Open Now: the Bijlmerbox Pick-Up Store

The Bijlmerbox is €50, can be ordered online and picked up at the Bijlmerbox Pick-Up Store that opened its doors in the Amsterdamse Poort shopping centre in partnership with CBRE. The ambition is to develop the pop-up shop into a permanent concept store that sells products from the district.

Placemaking in Southeast Amsterdam

The Bijlmerbox project is part of 11 United — a strategic placemaking project around the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Bijlmer ArenA railway station and the Amsterdamse Poort shopping centre. In the coming years, this area will undergo significant changes with the development of new housing, offices and retail spaces. 11 United is a joint venture between WE THE CITY, Vinger.nl, Realfakeshoes, Abi Suzanne Kanu and Pop-Up City commissioned by the City of Amsterdam to bring new energy to the centre of Southeast Amsterdam during the urban transformation phase.

We perceive the area as one big urban test lab. There’s room for experiment, new connections, and a new spatial identity. Our mission is to create an authentic, culturally diverse centre for Southeast Amsterdam in which all inhabitants feel at home. That’s why we’re working with local creators as much as possible.
