Pop-Up City, in collaboration with DeBuren, presents an exciting line up of guest speakers and urban enthusiasts who would like to share and discuss the newest trending concepts in city-making with you. From plug-in parks to pop-up space dating, live musical intermezzos, cooking with food waste, and much more, Pop-Up City Live promises to be a showcase of the most current, interesting and creative urban ideas and designs. Here’s our current lineup (with updates to follow):
BXL Swings in the Cracks
Urban hacking collective BXL Swings in the Cracks upcycles waste (scrap wood, discarded domestic furniture, and so on) into parasite interventions with the aim to vitalize public spaces. We’ve invited them to share their work and inspiration.
Bram Hermans and Job van Nieuwenhove are founders of film makers collective Urban Stories. During Pop-Up City Live they will show you how what drives them, and how they use film to capture their home town Brussels in a new and refreshing way.
Live cooking with Alledagenhonger
During the day, food bloggers Alledagenhonger will be visiting supermarkets and restaurants in Brussels to ask for produce that’s being thrown away. At Pop-Up City Live they’ll prepare a meal live on stage using the things they have found.
Patrice Fleurquin is founder of Spacified, an matchmaking service for urban spaces. Headquartered in Belgium, the network is currently expanding to cities in the Netherlands, France, and even outside Europe.
Les Boulistes, Canal Parks, and Picnic the Streets
Bram Dewolfs (Les Boulistes Bruxellois) and Gerben Van den Abbeele (Canal Park and Picnic the Streets) are initiators of a range of pop-up events and interventions in Brussels. Both will be interviewed by Pop-Up City book editor Adam Nowek on stage.
Maria Clara Espinel is founder of Epaulé Jeté, a laundromat in Brussels that’s a café at the same time. She will explain you everything about the new generation of stylish, mixed-use urban concept stores.
City One Minutes and musical intermezzos by DJ The Wild
A selection of City One Minutes from cities like Brussels, Amsterdam, and Paris, will be shown during the break. The one and only DJ The Wild will take care of the musical intermezzos during the night.
