Taggie Shows Where Supermarket Food Comes From
Designer Niels van Hoof developed Taggie, a smartphone app that enables children to research where their supermarket food comes from. By aiming a smartphone camera at a product tag, an animated film will be played which explains where the food comes from and the way it grows. Besides, Taggie enables its users to playfully discover the varieties in fruit and vegetables. Watch the video below to learn more about Van Hoof’s graduation project at the Design Academy:
In the first place Taggie aims to raise awareness about the origins of our fruit and vegetables, explains Van Hoof. The educational aspect is a good idea in itself as long as there are city children who think that hamburgers grow on trees. In the end Van Hoof hopes that better knowledge about where food comes from will stimulate children to eat healthy.
