Reanimation Of Ruins

The ‘S(ch)austall Project’ of Stuttgart-based FNP Architekten shows another perspective on the re-use of ruins and other abandoned buildings and can be considered a contribution to the vitality of the landscape by restoring and re-using its traditional landmarks.

This 1786 piggery is being re-animated into a small house by carefully integrating a flexible interior into the old ruin. With this design that’s made within the context of the re-active exhibition, FNP won both the Deutscher Architekturpreis 2007 and the Deubau Preis 2008.
