Program

Pop-Up City, in collaboration with the Ruimtekoers festival, presents an exciting line up of guest speakers and urban enthusiasts who would like to share and discuss the newest trending concepts in city-making with you. The event will be taking place on an empty floor of the Rozet Centre office building in downtown Arnhem.

WoonpioniersWoonpioniers
Arthur van der Lee and Jelte Glas are Woonpioniers, an initiative focused on new habitats and alternative residential concepts. For Ruimtekoers festival they came up with the idea of Bedstay Arnhem: temporary sleeping accommodations that trigger users’ imagination and simultaneously breathe new life into vacant buildings.

BankjesCollectiefBankjesCollectief
Many people have a bench in front of their house, but are the only users of it. Initiators of BankjesCollectief (BenchesCollective) Jesse Jorg and Cathelijn de Reede believe that we can be a bit more hospitable. Every first Sunday of the month, the BankjesCollectief turns the streets of Amsterdam into the ‘largest’ outdoor café in the world. The owners of the benches decide what they offer and the visitors determine the value afterwards.

WisselwinkelWisselwinkel
Jeditah van der Meulen en Mira ter Braak are initiators of the Wisselwinkel, a pop-up store concept that opened doors in North Amsterdam in 2013. The little shop changes owner and shop type every six months and offers starting local entrepreneurs the opportunity to testdrive their business in a flexible space. Now that the first two renters have ‘grown-up’ and rent a ‘normal’ shop in the same street the concept shows to make the neighborhood stronger by offering chances to hidden local entrepreneurs.

Map Your CityMap Your City
Caroline Vrauwdeunt, founder of Stedenfabriek, is currently working on Map Your City, a city mapping app that enables users to find, map, share and connect to buildings, spaces & heritage. The official launch of the app will take place during Pop-Up City Live.

De FlatDe Flat
Nobody wanted to live in the modernist Amsterdam Bijlmer flat Kleiburg in 2012. Today, the self-building project De Flat generates lots of interest among new lifestyle groups. How did this image shift came to be? Elisabeth Boersma (planB) was one of the initiators of De Flat and Johannes van den Akker has opened a monastery (Kleiklooster) and now brews his own beer in De Flat.

MeetplantThe Meetplant
The Meetplant is a Dutch sharing platform that connects supply and demand of exciting spaces. Founder Ruth van der Vlucht will explain how The Meetplant helps to re-use the hidden potential of the city, and earn some money on the side.
