Together with an Austrian artist, advertising office Jung von Matt has launched a series of ‘leaking’ power outlets to show that energy is wasted every second and everywhere. The urban intervention was meant to get people’s attention on the regardless waste of energy. The installation speaks to the German energy company RWE which takes a lot of efforts to create itself a sustainable image. To illustrate the flow of electricity, JVM came up with the idea to show this in the form of leaking power outlets in various shapes and colors. The installation is installed close to the RWE Tower in Essen and aims to encourage visitors to think about their own energy consumption. The campaign seems to work, as a lot of German blogs such as Rebel Art and Urbanshit already wrote about the installation as a great urban intervention.
