Transparent House In West Amsterdam

Amsterdam-based artist Leonard van Munster created a very special add-on to his own house. He will use it as a studio space for his work. The unit, built on an original Jan Rietveld house, has mirror glass walls on the outside which give the whole an amazing appearance. The project brings the functional city into question with the objective to create light, air and space.

The building is located in the new to-be-established Van Eesteren Open Air Museum in Amsterdam: from 2007 the neighbourhood of Geuzenveld-Slotermeer in West Amsterdam is being officially considered a protected city part. The special museum was named after the famous Cornelis van Eesteren who served as president of the well known international modernist movement CIAM from 1930 to 1947. Cornelis van Eesteren was the building father of Geuzenveld-Slotermeer.
