“I thought about the Wizard of Oz and how Dorothy could click her shoes together to go home. After uploading your required destination to the shoes via a piece of custom made mapping software and a USB cable, the GPS, which is embedded in the heel, is activated by a heel click.”
Walking directions are given by the left shoe, which has a ring of LED light to show you the right direction to go. The wirelessly connected left shoe has a row of five LED lights to show how close you are to the given location.
The GPS antenna is hidden in the red tag on the back of the left shoe. New routes can be uploaded to the shoes with a USB cable. Check out the following video to learn more about the ‘No Place Like Home’ shoes:
The unique GPS-powered shoes have been displayed during this year’s London Design Festival. http://www.londondesignfestival.com/ and are still prototypes. Until the time these shoes will become realilty, we’ll have to use our more usual GPS devices to find our way back home…
