iPad Graffiti

Along with their colleagues of new media agency BERG, communication office Dentsu London has developed a way to draw moving three-dimensional typographies and objects with an iPad similar to light graffiti, a theme we covered earlier on this blog.

In dark environments, they played movies on the surface of the iPad that make 3D light forms as they move through the exposure. Multiple exposures with slightly different movies make up stop-frame animations. The results are impressive:

The iPad light drawing project is part of the ‘Making Future Magic’ series, a collaborative creative strategy which aims to expand the value of commercial communications by approaching things with a particular set of priorities: “to make creative work that is contributory and sensible to its culture and environment; to be exploratory and sensitive with regard to materials and media; to wonder what magical visions (as opposed to the familiar dystopias) of the future of media might look like”. The videos that form part of this series, are made to explore this statement.
