A Bus Stop That Pops Up When Needed

Doesn’t a fluid city need a more fluid way of organizing public transport? Last week we stumbled upon PUB, an intelligent bus stop that can be moved from location to location.

Initially designed to streamline large numbers of people during festivals, the pop-up bus stop is able to respond to changing situations by providing quick information about traffic movements on a digital display. PUB isn’t just a bus stop — it also functions as a billboard. The creators hope that the advertising space can create some kind of financing model.

Now in Rotterdam, the regular stop signs appear in a high-quality design. It doesn’t let the anger about traffic completely disappear, but the additional information about the reason for the congestion and the duration at least mitigate the anger a bit.
