Spruce Stove: An Innovation In Burning Wood

The Dutch product designer Roel de Boer (also known for his tree huts) and Michiel Martens came up with a new type of stove. The so-called Spruce Stove was presented during the Salone del Mobile in Milan, earlier this month.

The Spruce Stove embodies a new approach to burning wood. A complete tree trunk can be consumed by this compact stove. The aperture is a diaphragm and encloses seamlessly around the tree. By gently pushing the trunk inwards during the burning process the experience lasts as long as the trunk. A stove is one of this everyday tools that seems to be as old as mankind, therefore it’s particularly interesting to see that even here innovations in design and functionality are still possible.
