Help Us Map Gentrification In Brooklyn!

Help us explore the gentrification frontline in Brooklyn, New York! Using GmapGIS, send us your personal maps of what gentrification in New York looks like to you. For those of you in New York this week we will also be speaking at Northside Festival on Thursday. Come say hi!

Here in Amsterdam Noord we’ve been watching the borders of gentrification creep into our own front yard over the past few years. The district is quickly changing over from shipyards and factories to 3D-printing studios and zelfbouw homes, greatly altering the demographics. As gentrification progresses we’ve been keeping an eye on key indicators and mapping the changing borders of the “gentrification frontline” in the city.

Gentrification is becoming increasingly present across the globe and we are looking to extend our exploration. By mapping the frontlines of other highly-gentrified cities we’re interested in seeing if it is possible to predict the areas and indicators of gentrification’s next battlefield.

Help us!

At the moment we are working on mapping the gentrification borderline in Brooklyn, New York and we would love your help! Using GmapGIS send us your personal outline of Brooklyn’s gentrification frontline. We will then overlay these maps to gain a more collective understanding of gentrification in Brooklyn. Please send us a link to your maps at mail@popupcity.net.
