Flexible Plastic Sleeping Cocoons

Social designers frequently come up with new ideas to make life better for homeless people, like the famous tent project in Paris. The Shelter Cart project is an interesting one, because creators Gregor Timlin and Barry Sheehan focused on nice, user-friendly design. The big advantage is that the plastic sleeping cocoons are easily transportable.

“The aim of the project was to design a tool for a particular group of homeless people who collect bottles from the streets so they can maintain a small income from the recycling plants in order to sustain themselves. The project was not seen a solution to the social problem of the homeless but instead as an method of raising awareness about the issue.”
